Sport Division
- Hydration pack or water carrying system (per person)

- Bike maintenance kit to include 2 spare inner tubes
and pump/inflater (per team)
- All the water and food you will need for the race (can
store extra food/water in transition area)
- Two compasses per team (recommend the Brunton
8096 Adventure Race Compass*)
- Mountain Bike (light is not needed for Sport division)
- Quality bike helmet (no GI Joe Special from Walmart,
must be a bike helmet)
- Whistle (1 per team required, but recommend each person
has one)
- First aid and survival items (must include as a minimum
2 survival blankets, waterproof matches/lighter, medical
tape, gauze, antibacterial ointment, water purification
tablets, and 2' elastic bandage)
Elite Division
- All of the above, plus...
- Bike light-that can last the night for safety on road
(white front, red back)
- Map coordinate plotting equipment (1:24,000 map)
- Waterproof map case
- Map writing utensils (be prepared to plot points anytime
in the race in any weather on a map of normal or waterproof
paper).
- One light per person (recommend the Princeton
Tec Apex headlamp)
- 5 functioning chemical lights "glow sticks" per team
- Zip ties and string - or a way to attach chemical lights
to your PFD and canoe
- Reflective belt (ankle, arm, waist, or pack)
- One strobe light per team for hours of darkness (recommend
Princeton
Tec Aqua Strobe)

- Third seat for canoe (available from www.campmor.com)
- Kayak paddle 1 per team (no kayak paddles provided this

You are allowed to bring your own Type III PDF (Elite
Division)
Inspections - there is no gear check prior to the race,
but there could be gear checks at any point in the race.
*If you do not currently have a compass (or have one that
is not current), get the Brunton AR compass. We feel it
is the best compass on the market. It is the compass we
use in the and it will make you're navigation much easier.
