THE WORLD (STW), INC. is a nonprofit charitable organization
founded in January of 2002 and incorporated in South Carolina.
This organization was developed with the main goal of making
a difference in the world today. Its mission statement is
to assist communities worldwide to create a better quality
of life and empower individuals to make a difference. The
mission is intentionally broad. We do not want to be limited
in any manner in our efforts to make positive change.
The
five members of the board of directors are licensed Physical Therapists
and as a result gravitate toward medical humanitarian efforts and
health promotion. Even so, we have very diverse future plans. We
want to continue our overseas physical therapy services. We want
to expand and offer more health promotion and medical support domestically.
We want to get involved with providing food and shelter for those
in need as well as providing disaster relief. We additionally feel
that education is the future for our communities and want to effect
positive change in this arena too.
As
children are our future, we place emphasis on them. Of the over
1000 wheelchairs that we have assisted in distributing internationally,
many of them have gone to children. We assist the children of McCormick
County, SC by providing funds for the Literacy Association and the
Helping Hands United (food bank). STW is very active in working
to promote healthy living for youth by assisting with after school
fitness programs.
We
truly believe that effecting positive change is a team effort. The
board of directors and membership empower others to believe that
they too can make a difference. |
